Hi! I hope you completed the first Self Work cause that was an easy one. Today we are going to talk about something a little more challenging. Are you absolutely happy with where you are in life? Could it be better? The answer is yes. Life could always be better if you take the steps. The key is to set fierce goals and take steps to accomplish them.
Think about who you want to be now and in the future, not what you wanted to be when you were younger unless that answer is still your passion.
Sometimes we get caught up in job titles and materialism. It can be stressful to try to figure everything out at once. Remember to go at your own pace. Sometimes people rush us or want to hold us back even with good intentions. No! You decide what is right for you. Think of what type of person you want to be.
Do you want to be a person who helps others? Do you want to travel? Get as specific as you can when you are setting goals. It makes it easier to accomplish once you pinpoint exactly what you want and how to get it. If you want to travel, decide a place then do research. How much does airfare cost? Where will you stay? Think of all deciding factors then create a budget on how you will save to get there and give yourself a deadline. If you don’t then your dream will never become reality. I’ve made so many lists of what I want to do and the things I take the time to research are usually the things that actually get done.
Another tip when setting goals is to share them with someone you trust and admire. Knowing you told someone you respect holds you accountable and that is a great motivator. If you’re not comfortable sharing your goals, I completely understand. It could be scary. Sharing your innermost desires makes you vulnerable because sometimes we think our ideas are crazy or not good enough and we are afraid of being judged. Try to fight through that fear because it hinders us. Our fears limit us from fulfilling our potential.
Who cares if someone thinks your dream is stupid. There are plenty of people itching to support that genius dream of yours. You need to believe in yourself to make things happen. It’s easy to let outside forces dictate what you do but that would mean you are living a life on someone else’s terms. The more you choose to listen to your voice, the happier you will be with the decisions you make.
Our decisions won’t always get us the outcome we want. The reality is we are meant to fail sometimes. It’s what make us stronger. Knowing you decided for yourself gives you fierce independence. If you do something only because someone else wanted, you will feel resentment for not doing what you truly thought was best for you.
September is a transitional month. What better time to set goals for your new life?
SELF WORK #2: Set 2 Goals. Think of 1 thing you would like to accomplish by the end of the month and 1 thing you would like to accomplish before the year is over. Write up a plan that will get you to completing those goals.
