Spring Reset: I Was Doing The Most, So I Reset My Space

There is something about this time of year. Aries season. Spring Equinox. I can feel the shift. Planet Mercury just went direct after being retrograde for a few weeks. The slow down before the the Rebirth. The quickest way to burnout is to ignore your body. I’ve been overworking, overgiving, overextending… over everything.

So this week, I did something different. It’s my daughter’s spring break, and I decided to take time off. Not just to be off, but to actually be present. With her. With myself. With my life. And somehow… without planning it…

I woke up this morning and started cleaning. I started in my walk in closet/office space. A few weeks ago, I started getting rid of some stuff and decided to make use of my huge walk in closet. The piles of clothes were not happy so I made the space pretty. I will need to snap a photo to show you. Peep these pink velvety curtains that brighten up the space. I love them so much. I got these in marigold and hunter green, también. There’s just something so luxurious about velvet. Makes me feel cozy and elegant, dahling.

There is a lotta research that talks about how your environment impacts your mental health. And for me, that’s real. I have Mars in Virgo in my 6th house. IYKYK. I need my space to feel clear so it can support me. So I can think clearly. So I can show up fully as the me-ist me. Now listen… I’m not out here pretending to be the most organized person in the world. I have my own version of organized chaos. And yes, there are ADHD laundry piles with too many guest appearances. I’ve had to really work through the shame around that. The self-criticism. The “why can’t you just get it together” voice.

And here’s what I’ve learned: I’m not messy. My brain is juggling a lot. That’s an understatement. I just needed systems that actually work for me. I know systems sounds boring and stuffy. According to Oxford Dictionary, a system is a set of things working together as parts of an interconnecting network. A set of principles or procedures according to which something is done; an organized framework or method. Turns out, the system that works for me is a whole lotta me time, home decor and finding joy in the little things like these beauties. I have one in my bedroom to set the tone after hours. One in my office space, which I am now calling Queen VTBF Headquarters and one in the living room. And with this vintage floral hat, the pink lighting is a vibe.

Some fierce reminders:

🌸 Do not wait until your body feels bone tired to take care of yourself. No one will give you permission. You are in chrge, boo.

🌸 Find joy in the lil things. For me, it’s making myself a huge cafecito or finally finding THIS beauty. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect living room rug. This chicky makes my heart smile.

🌸 Go outside. Yup, rain or shine, get your booty outside for some air. Spring has sprung so let’s gooo.

🌸 Sometimes, things don’t work out as you plan. The sooner you can loosen your grip, a better way will make itself known.

XOXO, Kayla
